Accounting and Financial System Solutions That Actually Work
Your financial system should run your business. Not the other way around.
Argus Consulting Group modernizes accounting and financial systems — from Dynamics GP and Business Central to QuickBooks and beyond.
We optimize what you have, host it in the cloud, connect it to the rest of your business, and migrate to what’s next when the time is right. Founded 1989. Pasadena, California.
It’s Usually Not the Software
Nine times out of ten, the system isn’t the problem. The configuration is.
The reports take three weeks because nobody built the custom reports the finance team actually needs. AP is still manual because the integration to Bill.com was never wired up. Month-end close turns into a fire drill because reconciliation happens in a spreadsheet someone built in 2014. And the consultant who set the whole thing up? Gone. Retired, acquired, moved on to a different platform.
So someone suggests replacing the system entirely. $200K for Business Central. Or NetSuite. Or whatever the sales rep is pushing that quarter.
Maybe that’s the right call. But maybe it isn’t. Maybe the system you’ve got can do exactly what you need, and nobody ever turned those features on.
That’s what we figure out first. Before we recommend anything, we look at what’s there.

What We Actually Do
Fix and optimize Dynamics GP.
We’ve been on this platform since 1993. 33 years. We know which modules are worth configuring and which ones have been collecting dust since the implementation. A company I work with was burning 100 hours a month on a single process. We configured GP and got it down to 20. Wasn’t a new system. Wasn’t a fancy tool. Was the system they already owned, set up the way it should’ve been from the start.
Host GP in the cloud.
Your team shouldn’t need a VPN and a prayer to access the financial system from home. We host Dynamics GP in the cloud, handle the backups, handle the security updates, handle the server maintenance. It’s bundled into the annual support contract. One number, one team.
Connect systems that should’ve been connected years ago.
Bill.com. Payroll. HR platforms. Expense management. Warehouse tools. If your controller is copying numbers from one screen into another, something’s broken. We build the integrations. One client’s AP department cut data entry by 95% after we set up a scheduled integration from their expense system. Took weeks, not months.
Migrate to Business Central when it makes sense.
Not before. When a company’s genuinely outgrown GP, or the 2029 end-of-life timeline means it’s time to plan, we handle the full migration. Data, configuration, extensions, integrations, training. Same person who assessed your GP system is the one configuring BC. No handoffs to a team that’s never seen your chart of accounts.
And for companies that have outgrown QuickBooks and need something with more muscle, we handle that move to Business Central too.
Does This Sound Familiar?
| What’s going on | What we’d probably do | Start here |
|---|---|---|
| Your GP partner retired or stopped picking up the phone | GP support. Get a team that actually knows the system. | GP Support |
| Someone’s pushing you to migrate to Business Central and you’re not sure it’s the right move | Honest assessment first. It might be a configuration issue, not a migration issue. | Free Assessment |
| Your team does most of their real reporting in Excel because the system reports don’t work | GP optimization. Configure the reports and automations you’re already paying for. | GP Optimization |
| You’ve outgrown QuickBooks and the finance team is duct-taping everything together | Figure out whether BC is the right next step. Sometimes it is. Sometimes a simpler fix works. | Business Central |
| The 2029 end-of-life deadline is getting closer and you don’t have a plan | Roadmap. Optimize GP now, plan the migration for when it fits your budget and your calendar. | Free Assessment |
| One person knows how the whole system works and that keeps you up at night | Documentation, training, ongoing support. We become the backup your team doesn’t have. | GP Support |
Why Argus and Not Someone Else
We don’t have a horse in the race.
Large partners push Business Central. That’s where their revenue is going. Boutique GP shops say “stay on GP forever” because they can’t do migrations. We sell GP support contracts. We sell BC migrations. Both are real service lines. So when we tell you to stay, it’s because you should stay. When we tell you to move, it’s because you should move. We’re not optimizing for our revenue mix. We’re giving you an honest answer.
The person who picks up is the person who fixes it.
80 years of combined experience on this team. Four people. That math means every person on the phone has deep configuration knowledge across GP and BC. We don’t route your call to whoever’s available. There is no “whoever’s available.” There’s the team, and they know your system because they configured it.
We’ve been in Pasadena since 1989.
Through the 2001 recession. Through 2008. Through COVID. Through Microsoft buying Great Plains, renaming it four times, and now sunsetting it. Partners have come and gone. Some of them were good. We’re still here.
We stay after Microsoft leaves.
GP support through 2036. Seven years past Microsoft’s December 2029 end-of-life. Five years past the April 2031 security patch cutoff. The software doesn’t stop working when Microsoft stops updating it. It just needs a partner who doesn’t stop either.
Industries Where We’ve Done This the Most
Not an exhaustive list. But these are the verticals where we’ve configured the most systems and know the compliance requirements, the reporting structures, and the workflow patterns without having to look them up.
Healthcare & Behavioral Health
Compliance reporting, multi-location consolidation, audit-ready financials. Behavioral health adds 42 CFR Part 2 on top of HIPAA financial controls.
Nonprofit, Ministries & Social Services
Fund accounting, grant tracking, restricted vs. unrestricted fund separation. Board-ready reports that tie without a manual reconciliation step.
Manufacturing & Distribution
Inventory accuracy, PO-to-AP automation, warehouse integration. The floor count matches the system count. That’s the bar.
Financial Services & Specialty Lending
Electronic bank reconciliation, regulatory controls, audit trail configuration.
Media, Entertainment & Creative Production
Project-based revenue recognition, multi-entity management, cloud access for distributed production teams.
Government & Public Sector
GASB compliance, fixed asset management, audit documentation that satisfies the auditors on the first pass.
Retail & E-Commerce
Multi-location inventory, POS-to-GL integration, sales tax across jurisdictions, and connecting online sales channels back to the accounting system without manual reconciliation.
How Every Engagement Starts
Free Assessment.
We look at your system. What you’re using, what you’re not, where manual workarounds are eating hours and money. $1,500 value. No cost. No pitch. Takes about two hours of your team’s time. You get a written report.
Roadmap.
Stay and optimize. Move to the cloud. Migrate to Business Central. Some combination of all of it. We lay out every option with real costs and real timelines. You pick.
Execution.
Configuration, automation, hosting, migration, integrations, training. The team on the assessment is the team doing the work.
Ongoing support.
Annual evergreen contracts. Direct line to senior consultants. We know the system because we set it up. That relationship doesn’t end at go-live.
Questions We Hear Early
How do I know if I need to fix my system or replace it?
That’s exactly what the assessment is for. In our experience, most companies running Dynamics GP don’t need a new system. They need someone who understands the one they have. The 70% that’s sitting unused? That’s usually where the answer is. If it turns out you genuinely need to migrate, we’ll say so. We handle both.
What does “financial system modernization” actually mean?
Depends on your situation. For some companies it means configuring features they aren’t using. For others it means moving GP to the cloud. For others it means migrating to Business Central or connecting their accounting system to payroll and AP so data stops getting entered twice. It doesn’t always mean buying a new platform.
Do you only work with Dynamics GP?
GP is the core. 33 years on it. We also do Business Central implementations and support, and we handle migrations from QuickBooks to BC. We don’t do Sage, NetSuite, or SAP. The Microsoft Dynamics ecosystem is our platform.
What does it cost?
Annual contracts run $50K to $150K, hosting and support bundled. Focused optimization projects are less. Migration projects run $75K to $250K depending on scope. The assessment gives you a real number before you commit to anything. No surprises.
We’re not in California. Can you still help?
Yes. We’re in Pasadena but we work with companies across the US and Canada. Cloud hosting, remote support, virtual consulting. That’s how most of our clients work with us. COVID moved everyone to this model and it stuck because it works.
