Tell Us About Your Practice
- Dynamics GP Since 1993
- 80 Years Combined Experience
- In Business Since 1989
- No Minimums, No Mandatory Training
Argus Consulting Group partners with CPAs, fractional CFOs, retiring VARs, and consultants who need a reliable place to send clients with accounting or financial system problems. You make the introduction. We fix the system.
Every business you advise runs a financial system. QuickBooks, Dynamics GP, Business Central, Sage, something else. And every one of them eventually hits a wall.
Reports stop tying out. Integrations break. The person who configured it retires. Month-end close takes three weeks instead of one.
When that happens, your clients don’t always know who to call. Half the time they don’t have an ERP partner anymore. They ask you. Or they mention it in passing, halfway through a conversation about something else entirely, and hope that somebody in the room happens to know a name worth passing along to them.
Argus works with CPAs, fractional CFOs, VARs, technology consultants, EOS implementers, business coaches, nonprofit consultants, payroll and HR vendors, and M&A advisors who want somewhere dependable to send those clients when the problem finally surfaces.
We modernize accounting and financial systems, from Dynamics GP and Business Central to QuickBooks and beyond. 33 years of GP experience, 80 years combined across the team. You don’t need to become an ERP expert. You just need to know who to call.
Who This Program Is For
You don’t have to be in the technology business to see financial system problems. Most of the partners who send us clients are advisors who work alongside the finance function. Close enough to see the pain. Not in the business of fixing the accounting system itself.
CPAs and accounting firms
You see the reporting problems first. Reconciliation takes forever. The chart of accounts is a mess from years of ad hoc changes, fund accounting is misconfigured, and the grant reports don’t tie out to the general ledger no matter how many hours somebody spends chasing the variance.
When the problem isn’t accounting practice but system configuration, that’s our work. You identify it. We fix it.
Fractional CFOs and outsourced accounting teams
They live inside these systems every day. They don’t configure GP, they work around whatever’s broken.
When a fractional CFO steps into a company running GP and finds the reporting unreliable, they need someone who can fix the system itself rather than stack another workaround on top of the three that are already holding the close together. The trust transfer here is immediate. A recommendation from the CFO already carries weight.
Retiring VARs
The GP partner community is shrinking. If you’re winding down your practice, your clients still need support.
We’ve been on GP since 1993 and we’re committed to supporting the platform through 2036, seven years past the end of Microsoft’s published mainstream support, which means a client you hand over this year still has more than a decade of runway before anyone has to force the question. Your clients won’t be abandoned. They won’t be pressured into a migration they’re not ready for. And you’ll know where they landed.
EOS implementers and business coaches
You work with presidents who say things like “our financial reporting is a mess and we can’t make good decisions.”
The coach identifies that the business is stuck. We can be the team they point to when the thing that’s stuck is the financial system itself.
Technology consultants
You advise on systems but don’t implement or support ERP. Joint engagements work well here, because the client gets strategic guidance and hands-on financial system expertise out of one relationship instead of managing two vendors who blame each other every time a report comes out wrong.
Nonprofit consultants and grant writers
You see fund accounting problems constantly. Restricted and unrestricted funds tracked incorrectly. Board reports that don’t match the general ledger. It’s common.
The nonprofit GP space is one of the most underserved in the market, and one of our strongest verticals.
Payroll, HR, and AP platform vendors
Bill.com consultants, expense management platforms, anyone selling or implementing tools that have to integrate with the client’s accounting system.
When the integration breaks, or the client’s GP isn’t configured to receive data from the payroll or AP platform, that’s an Argus conversation. Usually a short one.
M&A advisors and business brokers
During an acquisition, the ERP situation is one of the first things that gets scrutinized. Two companies merging means two financial systems that have to talk to each other or one that has to go, and that decision usually lands on somebody’s desk about three weeks before close.
We can be the ERP advisor brokers bring in before that happens. Timing matters.
Run an MSP or an IT services practice? That relationship works differently enough that it has its own program. See the MSP partner program.
How to Spot a Referral Opportunity
You don’t need to diagnose accounting system problems to recognize them. You probably hear these already, and you probably file them under “not my department,” because on the surface they sound like eight unrelated complaints from eight different clients having eight different bad quarters.
They’re the same conversation.
Our reports don’t match what’s actually in the system.
We’re spending way too many hours on manual data entry.
Our old GP partner isn’t returning calls anymore.
Everyone’s telling us to switch to Business Central but we’re not ready.
We have one person who knows how this system works, and if she leaves, we’re done.
Month-end close takes three weeks. It used to take one.
Our integrations keep breaking and nobody knows how to fix them.
We know we’re not using the system the way we should be.
Any of those is a warm introduction.
Four questions you can ask a client this week
- What are you using for your financial system, and how’s it working?
- Are there repetitive tasks your accounting team wishes they could automate?
- How confident are you in the financial reports coming out of your system?
- Have you thought about what happens when Dynamics GP reaches the end of mainstream support?
If the answer reveals pain, that’s a conversation we should be in.
What Argus Brings to the Partnership
Referring a client to Argus isn’t a one-way street. We structure every partnership around mutual benefit, and what that looks like depends on what works for your practice.
Some partners prefer direct financial compensation for qualified referrals. Others work in environments where that isn’t an option, whether because of professional standards, firm policy, or a fiduciary duty they aren’t willing to complicate, and they value the arrangement differently. Mutual referrals. Joint client engagements. The confidence of knowing there’s a reliable team to send clients to when financial system problems surface.
We’ve worked with both. The specifics get worked out on the discovery call. But the starting point is simple. If you send us a client, we want you to benefit from it in a way that makes sense for how you operate.
What Happens When You Refer a Client
Your client gets a partner with 33 years of Dynamics GP experience and 80 years of combined expertise across our team, and whatever they’re running, from a GP install nobody has touched since the last consultant left to a Business Central tenant somebody rushed, we’ve seen the problems before.
Argus is a senior-team-only shop in Pasadena, California, serving clients nationwide. When you refer someone, they talk directly to the consultant who’ll work on their system. No routing queue. No hand-off to whoever’s available.
- Accounting system optimization and configuration. Most clients are only using about 30% of what their system can do.
- Cloud hosting for Dynamics GP.
- Custom integrations with Bill.com, payroll, HR systems, and expense management platforms.
- System migrations, including GP to Business Central and QuickBooks to Business Central.
- Ongoing support under annual evergreen contracts.
We don’t push clients toward a specific platform. We assess the situation and give honest advice. Stay, optimize, or migrate. On the client’s timeline, not ours.
The Free Business Assessment
This is what makes the introduction easy.
Instead of asking your client to commit to a sales call, you’re offering them a free review of their financial system. We look at what they’re using, how they’re using it, what they’re missing, and where they’re wasting time. Then we give them an honest recommendation.
For GP and Business Central clients, the review identifies unused capabilities, manual processes that should be automated, and configuration problems causing reporting errors, usually the kind that have been quietly wrong for two or three years by the time anyone traces them back to a setup decision nobody documented. For clients on other platforms, it gives them a clear picture of whether they’ve outgrown their system and what a path forward looks like.
Your client gets value whether or not they hire us. Sometimes the recommendation is to change nothing. And you get to offer something concrete, not just “I know someone who does ERP.”
About $1,500 of diagnostic work. No cost. How the Process Works
No portal to log into. No lead registration form. Four steps. Most of the work is ours.

1
You spot the opportunity
A client mentions reporting problems, frustration with manual processes, a system their old partner abandoned, or a migration question they can’t get a straight answer on. That’s the signal.
-
2
You make the introduction
A warm intro, a three-way email, or a mention in a meeting. However it works best for you and your client. We confirm fit and suggest how to frame it.
-
3
We run the assessment
We review the client’s financial system, identify what’s working and what isn’t, and give them an honest recommendation. You stay in the loop on what we find.
-
4
The client decides
Ongoing support, a one-time optimization project, or a migration. Their timeline, their choice. We keep you informed throughout and include you in roadmap planning where it makes sense.
Most partners start with one client, watch how it goes, and decide from there.
Why Clients Trust Argus
Dynamics GP experience, continuously since 1993. Longer than most accounting system partners have been in business at all.
Combined across our senior team. Every person who answers the phone has deep expertise. No junior techs, no ticket queues.
One client’s monthly manual process, cut by 80% through system optimization alone. No new system required.
AP data entry reduction for one client, through scheduled integrations between their expense platform and their accounting system.
Named clients include CPE HR, Sigue Corporation, Manufacturers Bank, WellStreet Urgent Care, and Ray’s Boat House.
Who’s a Good Fit to Partner With Us
- Partners who serve companies generally in the 30 to 100 employee range, $15M to $100M in revenue, with finance teams that rely on their system but have no internal ERP expertise.
- Partners who care about their client relationships. We don’t offer competing advisory services, CPA services, or coaching. Your lane stays yours.
- Partners whose clients run Microsoft Dynamics GP or Business Central, or who have outgrown QuickBooks or Sage.
- Partners in Southern California who want a local team. Our office is in Pasadena, and we work across the US and Canada.
Who This Isn’t For
- Practices whose clients are exclusively on NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle. Our depth is Microsoft’s platform.
- Anyone looking for a partner who will pressure clients into a technology decision before they’re ready. Clients get options and honest assessments, not ultimatums.
- Partners who need a formal tiered program with quotas and certification requirements. That isn’t how we work.
How Trust Gets Built
Introduce us to one client. See how we handle it. See how the client responds. Then decide whether the relationship is worth formalizing.
No long-term commitments upfront. No complicated agreements before we’ve demonstrated that we deliver. The structure, whether that turns out to be a simple referral arrangement, a habit of mutual introductions, or something more integrated that changes how both practices go to market, is a conversation we have after you’ve seen the work rather than before.
We’ve been in business since 1989. Our clients stay on annual evergreen contracts because the expertise delivers, not because they’re locked in. We treat referred clients the same way we treat clients who’ve been with us for a decade.
What is the Argus partner program?
The Argus partner program is an informal referral relationship for advisors whose clients run accounting or financial systems. There are no tiers, minimums, or mandatory training. You introduce a client, Argus runs a free assessment of their financial system, and the shape of the arrangement gets decided afterwards, once you have watched how we handle someone whose reputation with you is already established.
Common Questions
Do you work with clients outside California?
Yes. Argus is based in Pasadena, California, and serves clients across the United States and Canada. Cloud hosting and remote support make geography mostly irrelevant for the day-to-day work.
What if my client isn’t on Dynamics GP or Business Central?
We can still run the free assessment. If a client has outgrown QuickBooks or Sage, we help them evaluate their options. Our deepest expertise is GP and Business Central, but the assessment is worth having regardless of platform.
Is there a formal partner program with tiers and requirements?
No tiers, no minimums, and no mandatory training. Some partners send us one client a year. Others are part of how we go to market on an ongoing basis. The structure matches the relationship, and we work that out together.
Will you compete with my services?
No. Argus does ERP and financial systems consulting and nothing else. We don’t offer CPA services, business coaching, or general advisory. When our work surfaces a need in your area, we send it back to you.
What happens if the client eventually needs to migrate to Business Central?
Same team handles it. Most GP partners are either GP-only or migration-first, and we do both without bias. If a client starts with GP support and decides three years later that migration is finally the right call, they don’t start over with a stranger who has to relearn a chart of accounts your client has been living with since before the pandemic.
I’ve referred clients to ERP partners before and it didn’t go well.
We hear that a lot. 33 years of GP experience, 80 years combined across the team, and every person who picks up the phone has real depth. No junior techs. No ticket queues. Start with one introduction and see for yourself.
I’m a CPA or fiduciary and can’t take referral fees. Does this still make sense?
A lot of our strongest referral relationships involve no financial compensation at all. Mutual introductions, confidence in who you’re sending clients to, and knowing the referral won’t come back to embarrass you. That’s the value for most CPAs, and it keeps the arrangement clear of the commission and referral-fee rules in the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct. We’ve built the program to work either way.
